ELECTRIC GATES / CANTILEVER
Cantilever sliding gates require no ground track, making them the ideal choice for properties with uneven driveways, gravel surfaces, or steep inclines.
Expertly fabricated and installed by KLR Design. We cover Blairgowrie, Gleneagles, Perthshire, Perth & Kinross, Tayside, Fife, Dundee, Stirling, Falkirk, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dumfries & Galloway, The Scottish Borders and all of Scotland. Our bespoke cantilever systems use premium CAME, Roger Technology, KEY and DEA motors with hot-dip galvanised steel construction.
SEE OUR CANTILEVER SLIDING GATES IN ACTION
A cantilever sliding gate is a sliding gate system that operates without a ground track running across the entrance. Instead of riding on rails set into the driveway, the gate is supported by a counterbalance system and guide rollers mounted to one side of the opening.
This trackless design makes cantilever sliding gates ideal where a traditional tracked sliding gate isn't suitable — uneven ground, sloped entrances, gravel surfaces, exposed rural sites, or commercial driveways that need a clean, unobstructed opening. Trackless sliding gates have become the go-to choice for serious residential and commercial entrances across Scotland.

Traditional sliding gates run on a ground track fixed across the driveway opening. They work well on flat, prepared surfaces, but the track itself can collect stones, ice, leaves and debris — and it sits in the path of every vehicle that passes through.
Cantilever sliding gates are trackless. Because the gate is supported entirely from one side, nothing crosses the driveway. That makes cantilever sliding gates the preferred choice where the ground surface is uneven, exposed, or likely to collect debris — and where a cleaner, more premium finish is required.
Swing gates need clear opening space in front of or behind the entrance to swing through their full arc. On sloped, narrow or busy driveways — or where vehicles need to stop close to the gate — that swing arc isn't always practical.
Cantilever sliding gates slide sideways instead of swinging, so they're well-suited to entrances where driveway depth, slope, vehicle movement or layout makes swing gates less practical. Where there is space, however, a beautifully made swing gate — like the bespoke chevron entrance at Edinample Castle shown opposite — remains the classic premium choice.

For premium homes, country estates and rural driveways across Perthshire and Scotland, cantilever sliding gates deliver a level of security, privacy and presence that's difficult to match. The trackless design keeps the driveway clean and uninterrupted, while bespoke fabrication options — composite infill boards, privacy panels, wrought iron detailing — allow each gate to be tailored to the property. Ideal for properties where reliable, all-weather operation matters as much as the finish.
TRUSTED BRANDS WE INSTALL

Commercial cantilever sliding gates are widely specified for hotels, car parks, holiday parks, universities, business premises, agricultural entrances and managed access sites across Scotland. They handle wider openings, frequent daily cycles and exposed locations, and integrate cleanly with intercoms, fobs, keypads, ANPR-ready controllers and vehicle detection. KLR Design works with commercial clients across Perthshire, Tayside, Fife and the central belt to deliver fully-managed installations.
Every cantilever sliding gate KLR installs can be integrated with trusted automation and access control technology. That includes premium gate motors from CAME, Roger Technology, KEY and DEA, AES Global audio and video intercoms, smartphone app access, fobs, keypads, and vehicle detection systems such as Optex where suitable. Each system is specified to the site, the entrance layout and the way the gate will be used day to day.

As a 5x award-winning Scottish metal fabricator, KLR Design manufactures bespoke cantilever sliding gates in-house. Composite infill boards offer a clean, contemporary, privacy-focused finish. Galvanised steel frames provide long-term strength and corrosion resistance. Wrought iron detailing can be added for traditional or estate-style entrances. Every cantilever sliding gate is designed and fabricated to suit the property — there is no off-the-shelf product list.

RECENT PROJECTS
KLR Design installs bespoke cantilever sliding gates across Scotland for residential, rural and commercial properties. Cantilever sliding gates are ideal where a ground track is not suitable, including uneven driveways, gravel surfaces, sloped entrances or locations where Scottish weather, water and debris could affect a traditional tracked sliding gate.
KLR Design™ completed this cantilever sliding gate installation in Edzell, near Forfar in Angus, replacing an old wrought iron gate with a modern automated access system.
The project involved adapting the existing entrance layout, moving the wall where required, and installing a new cantilever sliding gate using KEY automation equipment.
The finished system included 2 pairs of safety photocells, safety edge protection and goal post-style safety supports, helping to create a safer, smoother and more practical automated gate installation.

This Coupar Angus cantilever sliding gate project shows the full installation journey, from initial site visit and groundworks through to the completed automated gate and access control system.
This is a composite cantilever sliding gate, with fencing and a pedestrian gate.
The photographs document every stage of a professional KLR Design installation — pre-works survey, excavation, foundation pour, cable trenching across the grounds, gate fitting, and the finished composite cantilever sliding gate paired with an AES Global video intercom and keypad.
Every project is carefully planned around the property entrance, available space, access requirements and safety needs.

SAFETY FIRST
Cantilever sliding gates must be installed with safety, structure and long-term reliability in mind.
KLR Design use professional safety systems such as photocells, safety edges and goal post-style support posts where appropriate.
The goal post-style support posts are an important safety feature because they help contain the gate structure. In the unlikely event of a fault or failure, they help prevent the gate from falling onto a person, child, pet or vehicle.
For KLR Design, safety is not an optional extra. It is part of a properly planned and professionally installed automated gate system.
Whether you are replacing an old gate, upgrading your driveway entrance or looking for a safer automated sliding gate system, KLR Design can help.
KLR Design installs cantilever sliding gates, electric gates, intercom systems and access control solutions across Scotland.
