The Client's Requirement
The client required a secure and reliable gate solution for a commercial yard in Edinburgh.
For commercial premises, gates need to be practical, robust and easy to operate. The entrance must allow authorised access while helping to control vehicle movement in and out of the site.
KLR Design installed an automated swing gate system designed to improve security, access control and day-to-day usability for the business premises.
The KLR Design Solution
KLR Design installed commercial yard swing gates automated with a Roger Smarty automation system.
Swing gates can be a strong option for commercial yards and business premises where the entrance layout is suitable and controlled vehicle access is required.
The system was also fitted with a GatEvo access control device, helping the client manage access more professionally.
A flashing warning light was included to provide a clear visual signal when the gates are operating.
AUTOMATION
Roger Smarty Automation System
The gates were automated using a Roger Smarty automation system.
This automation setup allows the swing gates to open and close smoothly, supporting easier access for authorised vehicles and improving the functionality of the yard entrance.
For commercial sites, reliable automation is important because the gate may be used regularly throughout the day by staff, suppliers, contractors, visitors or service vehicles.
ACCESS CONTROL
GatEvo Access Control Device
The installation included a GatEvo access control device, helping the client control access to the commercial yard.
Access control is especially important for business premises where security, authorised entry and operational control matter.
By combining automated gates with access control, the site benefits from a more secure and practical entrance system.
SITE SAFETY
Flashing Warning Light and Site Safety Visibility
A flashing warning light was installed as part of the automated gate system.
This provides a clear visual alert when the gates are in operation, helping improve awareness for drivers, pedestrians, staff and visitors using the yard entrance.
For commercial gate installations, visibility and safety signalling are important parts of a professional automated gate setup.

The Final Result
